Tell us about yourself:
My name is Brittany Bradley. I have a double major undergrad degree in business management and marketing. I have enrolled in a Masters program which I will begin next month. But for now Gorgee gets majority of my attention. I have always been passionate about business ever since I was a girl scout selling Girl Scout cookies.
Tell us about your company?
My company’s name is Gorgee and we specialize in clip-in hair extensions for black women. I often talk about Gorgee like she’s a person. But hey what’s wrong with giving your company life? Gorgee provides a less expensive method for black women to wear extensions. Gorgee eliminates the cost of paying hairstylist to do your hair because you’re able to put the extensions in yourself. We provide 100% Virgin Brazilian hair which is great quality. You can wash the hair and it returns to its original state, highlight the hair, dye, and cut and style!
How did you get started?
I got started with the help of family and friends. When it comes to business I have been blessed to be connected with people with various skills. For example, my friend who is a graphic designer created the Gorgee logo for free, my brother (the owner of inspirest) took lead in creating my website, and my bestfriend plans Gorgee’s business trips to various festival and events. Needless to same I am very grateful!
What inspired you to start your own company?
I always knew that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I live and breathe everything about business. From behind the scenes to in front of the scenes I always wanted to learn and execute.
Is your company a full time business for you? Or are you moonlighting? Why?
I currently work full-time at a large public university. I enjoy my professional job and it keeps me busy. During the evening and on weekends Gorgee is my priority.
How do you market the company? Social media? Print Advertising?
I market using Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. All are great resources for search engine optimization. We do have flyers that we pass out as well. Word of mouth has also been a great resource for us.
Who or what motivates you to continue with Gorgee everyday?
Everyday I am motivated by the company itself. I believe in Gorgee and her potential sucesss. I know Gorgee is the best option for hair extensions for black women. Be able to provide a product that I honestly know is a great product motivates me.
What is your definition of success?
Success to me is being able to truly reach a point in which I am proud of my accomplishments. Being able to reach a personal goal while not being selfish is key to me being happily successful.
What is some advise you would give entrepreneurs?
Advice that I would give to entrepreneurs is to remember to have fun with your business. Don’t get caught up solely in making money. If you’re doing something you love you have to remember to take time and soak up your success. Many times as entrepreneurs we get so busy we don’t take time to appreciate what we have. Truly take time to appreciate the little things about your company.
Is there anything else you would like to mention that I didn’t ask?
I am a business woman but I am firm a believer that the best things in life are free.
